The Family Member of a PBS Migrant visa category is for partners and children of points-based system migrants to enter and remain in the UK with their family member. To apply for this category, you must be related to a PBS migrant as either their husband, wife, civil partner, unmarried partner, same sex partner or child (under the age of 18 at first application).If your application for a Family Member of a PBS Migrant visa is successful, you will generally be granted leave in line with the expiry date of the PBS migrant’s leave.

The Adult Dependant Relative visa route is only available to applicants outside the UK. It is not possible to switch into this route from within the UK. Even if the person applying for an Adult Dependant Relative visa does experience the high level of ill health required by the second criterion, the third criterion is even harder to meet. Most sponsors who are able to afford to maintain and accommodate their dependent relative for five years will find it hard to prove that they cannot afford to provide care for that relative in their country of origin.
